Elaine Kingwell

Role: Epidemiologist/Research Associate

Previous Academic Training: PhD in Epidemiology (University of British Columbia), MSc in Behavioural Neuroscience (University of Calgary), BSc (Joint Hons.) in Zoology and Psychology (University College Swansea, University of Wales)

Research interests and current projects include: the epidemiology of multiple sclerosis (MS) (survival and mortality, incidence and prevalence, co-morbidity, natural course and disease progression, risk factors for MS); the short- and long-term benefits and risks of MS disease-modifying therapies; observational study design (including cohort, case control and nested case control); pharmacoepidemiology; biostatistics; health measurement; health behaviour; and questions related gender and health.

Funded through grants or awards from the MS Society of Canada, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the National MS Society (U.S.) and the Fondation ARSEP (France).
